- גּוֹדֶלm. (b. h. גֹּדֶל; v. גדל) 1) greatness. Erub.21b כבודי וגוֹדְלִי, my glory and my greatness.Ex. R. s. 29; Cant. R. to I, 2 גָּדְלוֹ His greatness.Ib. to II, 4; Num. R. s. 2 (play on ודגלו, Cant. l. c.) וגוֹדְלוֹ עלי אהבה even his (the childs) elevating himself over Me (by putting his finger on the Divine Name) is (a token of) love; (Tanḥ. Bmidb. 10 ודגלו; ed. Bub. ib. note וגִידּוּלוֹ Ms. R.). 2) pile.Pl. גּוֹדְלִין. Y.B. Mets.II, beg.8b עשויין ג׳ (coins found) piled up (assorted according to their sizes, pyramid-like; Bab. ib. 25a כמִגְדָּלִין).
